The New Standard: McLaren P1

When the original Mclaren F1 came out in 1992, it stunned the world. The legendary car, designed by Gordon Murray, could go from a stop to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds and go to a top speed of 240 mph. The successor (P1) is scheduled to hit the markets in 2013 and the specs are amazing. It will have a twin turbo V8, puting out 903hp and 664 foot pounds of torque. All that power will propel the car to a top speed of right around 217 mph. Not too shabby. The production is limited to only 375 to make it a little more exclusive. The new P1 is a force to be reckoned with and I can’t wait to see one of these beauties driving on the road!

The rear of the car looks like somthing straight out of a SciFi movie; somthing that would be more comfortable in outer space.

The looks of the car look somewhat like the MP4-12c, but with one major difference. All the lines are exagerated and the scoops and wings are bigger, much bigger.

These 390mm disc and massive calipers on the P1 enable the car to brake at an astonishing 2g's.

The interior of the car was not very impressive. It was like the MP4-12c, with lots of suede and carbon accents. But if anyone is going to may near $1,000,000 for a car, I would expect the interior to show it,

The rear spoiler on the car was so big it almost looked like a couple could have a nice picnic on it . Coming from auto racing I know how much a wing can make a difference and well, bigger is better isnt it?
